I've been working on introducing a sideline project for Lightning. One of our main areas of business is wedding discos so I'm introducing a new product called "Premier Wedding Discos" which will handle all the wedding bookings that we get.
As part of the promotion of Premier Wedding Discos, I'm in the process of creating a new website. It's far from finished but I'm going to throw it open to everyone to check it out and offer their opinions on the layout, format, and content (of which there isn't much yet but this will soon change!).
The linky is: http://www.weddingdisco.viviti.com/
Have a look at the site and post your opinions. With the...

How do you fancy helping to ensure that this forum is a happy place for all to come and share thoughts and opinions, seek and offer advice, and general have an enjoyable time here?
In the next couple of months, Lightning Disco & Entertainment are going to put the forum out to the entire world with a big internet promotion campaign to drive up visitor and member numbers.
In order to achieve our aim of making this forum one of the best on the web, and not just in our industry, we need some help. We're not asking for any major commitment from anyone. We just want responsible people who can look out for posts that don't meet our family-friendly standards and moderate them. T...

Can't believe I haven't responded to Richards previous post before now. This is because, due to family commitments, I've put this forum project on the back burner. It's been a while but I'm back! And I'm now hoping to make a success of this forum which I'll be marketing very VERY soon!
Anyway, if you're still out there, Richard, my avatar is not me (sadly!). It is, of course, the late great John Belushi in his role as Jake Blues from the Blues Brothers. This is the role I took on for our Blues Brothers charity show to raise much needed funds for good causes when Lightning was called MD Entertainment (MDe).
MDe was created with the sole pu...

After a spate of spam attacks on the threads on this forum, we have taken the drastic step to stop Guest users posting comments. We haven't taken this decision lightly as we felt that everyone should be able to leave comments but, sadly, spammers have prevented us from allowing this.
We believe that this spam has been sent by zombie pcs as opposed to anyone sending it deliberately so we haven't barred any particular name/I.P address in case these people want to join legitimately.
Guests can easily join. It's simply a case of clicking on the relevant button on the menu bar and entering a few details. You will be sent an email which you need to respond to in order to ...

Hello everyone.
Was just surfing the web and came across this little community.
I work in the wedding industry and have worked alongside many mobile discos over the years. I just thought I could join your forum and give another perspective - another opinion - to the situations that affect us all. Maybe I could learn some of you a thing or two and I certainly look forward to learning from you in the future.
Best wishes
Big Dave |

it will be interesting to hear customer input and personally I look forward to the input from them. It's one thing for others in the industry to tell one another and arguee what is right & wrong in their opinion its another to actually hear it from a customer.
I can also see a huge benifit to new starters as it could save them money when setting up. For example I am seriously thinking of ditching intelligent lighting because I am starting to receive feedback that suggests bright scanning lights offend/annoy rather than entertain. If a few potential customers could verify that as long as their is lighting they arn't to bothered with what it is then it would put my mind at rest that this is a good move. And...

Hi!
I'm Dazzy 'D' (aka Darren!) and I'm the chief forum administrator around here. But I thought I'd just tell you all a bit about myself so you can feel you know me better.
At the time of posting, I'm 32 years of age (in DJ land this makes me a pensioner!). I am a dad to 2 (Liam aged 2 and Katie, 1) and we all live with my partner Anne and her daughter Chloe. All in all, it's a bit of a mad house really!
I run Lightning Disco & Entertainment, one of the regions most popular mobile disco & karaoke operators (going by the number of bookings we've been getting lately). We provide entertainment for all occasions but I prefer to do the fami...

Well, I try to help others the best I can. I've been attending karaokes since 1991 and started working them in 1999. I'm still going strong in this area so I think I must know something about it!
Us DJ and entertainers often get a bad press and, without sounding up my own backside, I seem to be bucking this trend by making a success of things. The best thing I hear is, when giving a quote or taking a booking, I always ask where they heard about Lightning and, quite often, the response is that someone has recommended us. If I can help others to reach this level then it will raise the publics perception of what we do. This, in turn, should help when getting bookings and drawing...

Again well done!
Incidently I found it by being nosey, it was some advice you had given me on karaoke so i linked to your site to see if i could pick up some design & layout ideas for the show. Hope you dont mind. |

Well done, Richard, for finding us!
The forum is really REALLY new! We haven't gotten to the point of advertising it. We've just had our web-hosting package upgraded and found the forum software amongst the raft of extras that we now get. We simply had to try it out!
The forum is being launched to bring together anyone who wants to come and visit. This includes all kinds of mobile entertainers along with agents and customers. Here at Lightning, we are members of several forums but none really seem to cater for our customers and that's where we're different.
When the forum gets fully up and running, we will be inviting new members from all walks of life and all are...

Welcome to The Lounge. This room is a little different from the others and here's why.
The discussion in here is very calm and easy-going. Heated debate is simply not allowed.
Anyone can come in here and have a good old chinwag. Likewise, this is the ideal place for new members to come in and introduce themselves.
Any threads that look likely to incite arguments or heated debate will be removed. Just take it easy and chill... |

A big warm welcome to all new visitors & users of this forum.
Whilst the forum was designed to be a DJ/mobile entertainer community, we welcome input from those who use our services.

If you are a service user (as opposed to a service provider) then we want to know your point of view. Tell us what you look for in a mobile entertainment service provider. Ask any questions that you need to find answers for. We cannot guarantee an immediate reply (depends whose on the fo...

Hi!
A big warm welcome to the newest DJ and mobile entertainer community on the internet!
My name is Dazzy 'D' and I run Lightning Disco & Entertainment, one of the top Mobile Disco & Karaoke businesses in the North East of England.
This site has been set up to allow mobile entertainers to get together and talk about anything they like (well, almost!). To keep the site friendly, we have to have a few rules set down on using the site and these can be found in the Forum Rules thread. As long as everyone plays by the rules and shows respect for the other forum members then we hope to build this project in to one of the biggest and best communities for like-minded entertain...
