In the next couple of months, Lightning Disco & Entertainment are going to put the forum out to the entire world with a big internet promotion campaign to drive up visitor and member numbers.  

In order to achieve our aim of making this forum one of the best on the web, and not just in our industry, we need some help.  We're not asking for any major commitment from anyone.  We just want responsible people who can look out for posts that don't meet our family-friendly standards and moderate them.  There are a number of safeguards built in to the forum itself but there's nothing like the human eye and mind to pick up on things that programming code may have missed and apply a bit of common sense.  You don't have to pledge any amounts of time spent on the forum.  It's a role that you do when you have some spare time and come on the forum.

If anyone wants any more info, feel free to PM me.  Then, we can discuss the role in a bit more detail.

We believe that this spam has been sent by zombie pcs as opposed to anyone sending it deliberately so we haven't barred any particular name/I.P address in case these people want to join legitimately.  

Guests can easily join.  It's simply a case of clicking on the relevant button on the menu bar and entering a few details.  You will be sent an email which you need to respond to in order to activate your membership and that's it!

We must point out, however, that anyone caught posting spam will be barred from the forum completely.

This forum is designed to be a helpful and useful resource of information to all of its members.  It has adopted a responsible attitude whereby things that are considered socially unsuitable will not be tolerated.

In order to promote and enforce this attitude, all members and guests are required to observe the following Forum Rules:

1.  Site Etiquette
Please make sure all posts are polite and respectful to the other users of the forum.  Whilst we do encourage open debate, it should be conducted in a respectful manner and not get personal towards another member.

2.  Research Before Posting
Before you post on the forums, do a quick topic search to see if your query has been covered before.  As the site grows, more and more info will be available using the search.  It's a good tool so use it!

3.  Use Proper English Langauge
Make sure your posts are written in clear English.  Do not use excessive abbreviations or SMS language.

4.  Stay On Topic
The forum boards are set up to cater for specific areas of discussion.  Whilst we accept that it is in the nature of conversation to deviate from the original topic from time to time, we advise all members to try to stay relevant to the original post.  Posts considered to have deviated too far from the original subject may be removed.

5.  Cross Posts
Do not make your posts to multiple forums.  Cross-posting takes up unneccessary server space and such posts will be deleted.

6.  Use of Capital Letters
When posting, do not use all capitals (upper-case) letters in your post.  This is considered as shouting and is deemed impolite to other members.

7.  Be specific
To have a better chance of finding the answers you want, be sure to be specific in your posts.  If you want opinions, ask for opinions.  If you want answers, be sure to give as much detail as you can.

8.  Be Patient
Give plenty of time to receive answers to your posts.  This site is not particularly a real-time discussion.  Depending on the number of members online at the time, it may take a while for you to get a reply to your post.

9.  Personal Information
We do not advise that you give out personal information on the forum boards.  If you really must give others this info, use the PM system or direct email.  Even then, we can't guarantee the person you are sending it to is who they say they are.  Give out this info cautiously and at your own risk.

10.  Offensive Posts
Please do not post messages that are deemed offensive to any individual or group of individuals

11.  Disrepute
All posts must be made in keeping with the morals and aims of the site.  Anyone who makes posts which are considered to bring the forum in to disrepute will be barred from the site.

Posts, unless posted by a moderator or administrator, are the responsibility of the member posting them and do not represent the views of the forum as a whole.  The forum cannot be held responsible for posts made by members.

12.  Adverts & Spam
Do not post adverts for services or goods on the forum boards.  This is not allowed.  However, the next site update will include a classified section where you can advertise your wares to other members.  Be patient!
Spam is not allowed in any form.  Any members reported for sending spam will be dealt with accordingly.  If you receive spam from another forum member, please report it to a moderator or administrator.

13.  Posting Links to Unsuitable Material
Members must not post links to external sites whose content includes sexual, violent, illegal activity or any other content deemed unsuitable and inappropriate to this forum.  Any member found doing this will face being barred from the site.

14.  Bad language
This is an open forum available to anyone of all age groups.  Therefore bad language will not be tolerated in any form.  Any posts containing bad language may be censored or deleted and members involved will be warned.

15.  Cracks, Serials, Warez
Links to this sort of content is unacceptable and probably illegal.  As a responsible forum, we observe and respect copyright laws and any posts that break this rule will be deleted and members involved warned.

16.  Barred Subjects
Include sex, violence, pornography, drugs, piracy, politics & religion.  Refrain from making any posts on these subjects and any others that may be considered unsuitable for this forum.

17.  Image Size
We encourage members to upload images if they are relevant to the post/subject under discussion.  However, we would ask any member posting an image to keep it small enough to fit on the board without having to scroll the screen.  This will help to keep the forums running smoothly and help members with slower internet connections (such as the Administrator until he get's his broadband up and running  ).

18.  Signatures
The forum allows you to use signatures at the end of your posts.  Please think carefully about the details you include.  You might want to include your slogan, your own website link or details of the areas that you operate in.  Links to sites like this forum are, however, prohibited.

19.  Multiple Registrations
Registering more than one account is strictly prohibited and will lead to you being barred from the site.

20.  Use Of Site At Own Risk
Use of this site is at your own risk.  The forum cannot be held responsible for any events arising from the use of information retrieved from this site.  

21.  Criminal Activity
The forum logs all activity that happens on its boards, in its Private Messaging  and in its administration areas.  In the event that forum usage is suspected of being linked to criminal activity, we will send our log files to the relevant authorities.  Please remember that your IP is also recorded within your forum use log and this will be helpful in identifying those involved in such activity.

22.  Consequences
There can be severe consequences for the misuse of this forum.  These include, but are not limited to, formal warnings, temporary bar from site and permanent bar from site depending of the severity of the breach.  The Administrators decision is final so please don't argue or you will be barred permanently.
