I've been working on introducing a sideline project for Lightning. One of our main areas of business is wedding discos so I'm introducing a new product called "Premier Wedding Discos" which will handle all the wedding bookings that we get.

As part of the promotion of Premier Wedding Discos, I'm in the process of creating a new website. It's far from finished but I'm going to throw it open to everyone to check it out and offer their opinions on the layout, format, and content (of which there isn't much yet but this will soon change!).

The linky is:
http://www.weddingdisco.viviti.com/

Have a look at the site and post your opinions. With the help of everyone on here, we aim to make it the best wedding disco website in the land! (And, of course, the ideas people give can be shared by everyone - that's the purpose of the forum, after all!)

Hi!

A big warm welcome to the newest DJ and mobile entertainer community on the internet!

My name is Dazzy 'D' and I run Lightning Disco & Entertainment, one of the top Mobile Disco & Karaoke businesses in the North East of England.

This site has been set up to allow mobile entertainers to get together and talk about anything they like (well, almost!). To keep the site friendly, we have to have a few rules set down on using the site and these can be found in the Forum Rules thread. As long as everyone plays by the rules and shows respect for the other forum members then we hope to build this project in to one of the biggest and best communities for like-minded entertainers.

Don't be afraid to ask questions on the forum. Helping each other is what we are here for and, no matter how simple the question may seem, if it's causing you concern enough to be thinking about it then I'm sure there will be others in the same situation.

I don't want this forum to be in direct competition with other DJ / entertainer forums. That is not what we are about. Certain forums, including the Mobile Disco Directory Forum, have provided me, and many others like me, with loads of help and advice over the last couple of years and, without them, Lightning wouldn't be the business it is today. I thank them for that help and will continue to use these forums.

What doesn't seem to happen on other forums is customers getting involved. This forum will actively get customers involved by giving them access to the forum to ask questions and get advice themselves. This way, they can ask about the things we do and offer, how we work and any general questions they may have. I feel that this will help to educate them in the way we work and this will help our industry to raise it's profile and the publics general perceptions about us and what we do.

To achieve this, I'd like the users of this forum who make up the mobile entertainment community, to make their customers and potential customers aware of this forum. Now, in order to make this viable, what I don't want is for forum users to actively seek to steal business away from others so there will be no touting of business here. The forum is strictly a help and advice community and not a marketing channel. Whilst it is acceptable to include your business name and contact details in your user signature whereby a potential customer can contact you, it is not acceptable to tout for business directly. Anyone found doing this will receive a warning on the first instance and will be barred from the forum on the second instance. This may seem a bit harsh to some but it's an important step in achieving the aims of the community.

The most important thing is for the forum to be a good experience for everyone using it. Working together we can make this happen and achieve all of our aims. Get it right and, together, we will raise the profile of our industry and give it the positive image that we will all benefit from.

Ok then, that's my introduction over. Get involved and get posting!

Dazzy D
